Simulation facilities open at Aston University

This will enable the teaching of simulated emergency resuscitation scenarios

Aston University’s £1.5m healthcare simulation facilities were officially opened by Paulette Hamilton MP on December 2 during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Facilities include an ocular simulation suite for students to practise examining the health of the eyes and experience a wide range of eye diseases.

Professor Anthony Hilton, pro-vice-chancellor and executive dean of the College of Health and Life Sciences at Aston University, said: ‘The acute care simulation room will allow for simulated emergency resuscitation scenarios that are very difficult to teach in real-life situations, such as heart attacks, acute breathlessness and severe allergic reaction and will be of great value in training students of medicine, pharmacy and optometry.’
