SpaMedica hosts cataract surgery conference

More than 200 optometrists and ophthalmologists were expected to attend a cataract surgery conference at the Hilton Deansgate on September 15, organised by ophthalmology provider SpaMedica.

Richard Woodward, SpaMedica’s CEO, said: ‘We are focused on collaboration within the sector to ensure exceptional care can be provided to patients in need of cataract surgery and other eye treatments. Events like this are vital for nurturing peer relationships, as well as sharing knowledge and the latest industry insights.’

The free-of-charge conference would include three CPD-accredited training sessions including a presentation on unmasking hidden conditions behind cataracts by SpaMedica’s regional optometrist lead for the north west, Sarah Hardy.

Consultant vitreoretinal surgeon, Felipe Dhawahir-Scala would highlight the miniature implantable telescope and host a Q&A session on ‘Everything you have always wanted to ask an ophthalmologist’.

Professor Christine Purslow, clinical director of outpatients, would also deliver a presentation entitled ‘Living well, seeing well – what is the best advice for aging eyes?’
