The national summer games 2005 will be held in Glasgow from July 2-9 and are set to attract over 2,500 participating athletes, almost 1,000 coaches and 3,000 families, friends and supporters. In addition to donating spherical Airwear polycarbonate lenses, Essilor will set up a glazing unit at Glasgow Caledonian University, which will be operated by experienced glazers, to ensure the majority of screened athletes will receive their finished spectacles at the games.

Andy Hepworth, Essilor's professional relations manager, has volunteered his services as DO for the whole event. Essilor has supported Special Olympic events at local community levels worldwide and will now extend its support company-wide to provide optimum vision to athletes globally.
