Specsavers backs VCHP clinic in Scotland

A new free eye care clinic for people experiencing homelessness has opened at Crisis Skylight Centre in Edinburgh, operating from a new Wellness floor, funded by Specsavers.

At a launch event, more than 60 attendees from Crisis, Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) and Specsavers plus third sector professionals received a tour of the new facilities.

Alongside the bespoke eye clinics, additional rooms would enable Crisis to broaden the health services it provides to its members. 

Specsavers’ Scottish divisional chair, Jenny Stephenson, said: ‘We are delighted to help VCHP open its very first clinic in Scotland. Our founding purpose is to improve eye care for all, but for those experiencing homelessness it can sometimes be difficult to get access to the eye health care they need.
