Specsavers denies industry speculation that it has placed an order for 600 OCT units

Specsavers has denied industry speculation that it has placed an order for over 600 OCT units for use in its practices.

‘We are aware that the use of the OCT image on our stand at 100% Optical and Optrafair, and in our adverts, has created some speculation in the market,’ said a spokesperson for the multiple.

As well as the rumours of the large order, it was also speculated on both the optom.com and the Optix Software OCT user forum, that scanning would be carried out at no charge.

Specsavers added: ‘We chose the image because it was a striking representation of our commitment to leading-edge professionalism, particularly in the context of our focus on enhanced optical services. Around 40 Specsavers stores have OCT currently.
