Specsavers is set to launch an eyewear collection online in January and the company is currently training internet dispensing specialists, Optician has learnt.
The news comes only weeks after the company in a statement to Optician downplayed speculation that it was about to take this significant step.
At the time, (News, October 19), Specsavers said that it was monitoring the internet and its impact on the retail sector and that this was done as a routine procedure.
'The internet is a huge growth area that we would be extremely shortsighted not to investigate and keep a watching brief on,' a statement from the company said.
