Specsavers increases the emphasis on frame fit for kids and toddlers

Specsavers said it has increased the focus of it children’s frame development to the fit of the frame following work carried out in conjunction with a specialist in paediatric dispensing.

Baby, toddler and children’s frame all require anatomical features to suit younger faces the multiple said, and it has tapped into a PhD into paediatric dispensing currently being undertaken by ABDO’s director of professional examinations, Alicia Thompson.

Thompson’s study has provided valuable empirical data which Specsavers said is vital in matching the age of the child to the shape of the frame as much as possible. Speaking about the launch of a range of Winnie The Pooh frames for babies and toddlers Thompson said: ‘The development of a child’s facial features requires different frame parameters to those of an adult and these have been incorporated into Specsavers’ new range.’
