Optometrists and sports scientists working for the England and Wales Cricket Board have been attempting to stop glare impeding England's cricket players' vision during games making it difficult for them to field catches.
Tests conducted by optometrists including Dr Nick Dash and with the help of adidas found that with the right kind of eyewear, it was possible to improve player's ability to see a ball in the air by up to 28 per cent according to a report in the Telegraph newspaper.
The tests also revealed how grey lenses favoured by players are too dark for most conditions and players were instead recommended lenses choices including red, gold, silver and orange.
Glare from sunlight can impede cricketers' ability to spot fast moving balls when fielding.
