Gloucestershire-based Norville Opticians teamed up with the Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind (GCAB) to support National Eye Health Week (June 13-19 2011).

The public were invited to visit a stand in the Regent Arcade Shopping Centre, Cheltenham to try glasses which simulate different degrees of age-related macular degeneration.

Members of GCAB, including visual awareness adviser Celia Kelly (pictured), were on hand to explain the importance of eye tests and how the organisation can help anyone affected by sight loss.

Recent research by the Macular Disease Society has revealed that more than half a million people in the UK have late stage macular degeneration.
