A student dispensing optician has been suspended from the registers for 18 months by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee after a conviction of driving with excess alcohol in March 2007.
Lyndon Clarke was found, in the early hours of the morning, to be two and a half times over the legal limit and was later disqualified for driving for 24 months and sentenced to a community order.
The Council also discovered that Clarke had received a fixed penalty notice for disorder in October 2005 and in December 2009 was on bail in relation to an allegation of causing actual bodily harm.
He was subsequently found guilty of that charge and given a community order and a fine for the case which involved domestic violence following alcohol consumption.
