A GOC fitness to practise committee has suspended Sabeen Kahn after hearing allegations that she worked unsupervised on two occasions while a student optometrist.

Khan was alleged to have reported to an optical practice on June 6, where another optometrist was booked to perform a session of locum duties and was unavailable due to sickness. Khan was said to have informed the practice that she was a registered optometrist and could substitute for the locum. Kahn was alleged to have examined 19 patients, signing GOS and other forms using the locum's details before claiming £300.

Kahn did not dispute the allegations. The committee suspended her registration for 12 months.
