Student order is continued

Fitness to practice

Student dispensing optician Andrew Davies has had his conditional registration order continued for its remaining six months by a GOC fitness to practise committee review hearing. It will be reviewed again within six months.

The order was placed on Davies in August 2011 (News 26.08.11) after he was cautioned by South Wales Police for possession of amphetamine in late 2010 and then convicted of drink driving and criminal damage at Cardiff Magistrates' Court in January 2011.

The hearing last week was a review of an existing 18 month order made in August. It was a scheduled review at the six month stage, as required by The Opticians Act.
