Sunglass Hut has started selling prescription sunwear in a number of stores for a trial period.
Optician understands the trial is being conducted in outlets including Cheltenham, Oxford Street, Covent Garden and Watford, whose patients can receive prescription sun lenses between the powers of +4 and -2D.
According to the stores contacted by Optician, the sunglasses retailer, part of the Luxottica Group, is offering prescription lenses for the majority of its brands such as Ray-Ban, Persol, D&G and Versace. The offer excludes those models, for example visors, which are awkward to glaze.
Optician understands that demand from Sunglass Hut's customers led the company to trial a prescription service.
