Staff at the Ultralase clinic in Essex thought they were the victims of a wind-up earlier this month, reported The Metro, when a Mr and Mrs Eyes booked in for matching laser treatments.
The unusual surname belonged to army warrant officer David Eyes and his Dutch-born wife Ellen.
According to David, the name is one of the most unusual in the UK, with only 100 Eyes on the electoral register.
The couple were keen to undergo the procedure to correct their vision as both had suffered from severe myopia for many years, and Dave was also astigmatic.
