Optical manufacturer Topcon has committed to support Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) for the launch its 30th anniversary activities this year.

Activity began with Topcon’s exclusive sponsorship a 30th Anniversary launch event in London earlier in the month.

The instrument firm was planning a number of events to support VAO throughout 2015 including a personal challenge by Luke Wyndham, its regional sales manager for the South East, who will take part in a six peak climbing expedition in the Andes. Topcon managing director Andrew Yorke (pictured) announced at the launch that Topcon would be donating £1,000 towards his expedition too.

VAO development director Jeremy Jalie said: ‘Vision Aid Overseas has always relied on support from the optical industry to send volunteers overseas to fight poverty by transforming access to eye care in developing countries. Today this is no different from when we were founded in 1985. Topcon’s generous support for our 30th anniversary launch event in London has got the year off to an incredible start and we're now looking forward to building on this throughout 2015.’
