Equipment manufacturer Topcon held its third user group meeting last month at the Stratford Manor hotel.
At the event, entitled ‘Delegates see the future’, Topcon director Andrew Yorke spoke to the delegation of the company’s equipment users about the benefits of up-to-date IT in practice computer systems.
The address particularly highlighted the prospect of a ‘joined up, paperless future’ and the company’s upgrades to its practice management system, i-Clarity.
Enhancements of the system include an online staff rota and a clinical records module that allows users to record and access treatment compliance checks.
A company statement said: ‘This has potentially important implications for the finances of a practice – where the absence of some exam results can result in the NHS reclaiming payments after a PPV check – and perhaps even more importantly, for each practitioners’ professional career, where full and accurate record keeping is becoming increasingly important in these litigious times.’
Product director Robert Ward added: ‘We now have a robust, well-established and comprehensive system, that has been installed at many practices throughout the UK over the last three years. One of the great things about a well-designed Practice Management System is that it can evolve over time, and keep getting better, the more we listen to our users, and receive feedback from them, the better our system becomes.’
