Bausch+Lomb has showcased its Victus Femtosecond Laser during a live cataract surgery demonstration.
The laser has the ability to perform 'virtually bladeless cataract surgery' and was described as the 'most significant advancement in cataract surgery in the last 40 years' by B+L.
Eye specialist Dr Sheraz Daya, pictured performing the surgery, said: 'The laser replaces the human hand in a number of steps and, in less than 20 seconds, makes incisions to enter the eye, a precise circular opening in the lens as well as effortlessly breaking up the cataract. From start to finish, it takes just three minutes to deliver.'
