Vision care services have been unveiled within the medical polyclinic for competitors at the London 2012 athletes' village.
The service, open from 6.30am to 11.15pm, will offer screening, refraction, spectacle dispensing, contact lens fitting, and initial diagnosis and treatment of ocular injuries and disease.
A total of 24 optometrists and 16 dispensing opticians have been rostered as volunteers for the Olympic and Paralympic Games between July 9 and September 12.
Professor David Thomson and Dr Penny D'Ath (pictured) of City University London have been involved with planning the project for three years.
'We have superb equipment, great facilities and a talented multidisciplinary team,' said Professor Thomson.
