Vision care championed at New Year’s Day parade

Inclusive eye care took centre stage at London’s New Year’s Day parade, led by Garry Kousoulou, dispensing optician and former board member of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians.

Representing the London borough of Enfield, the display brought together more than 100 participants to deliver healthcare messaging under the theme ‘unity through diversity’.

The display showcased how modern optometry served as a bridge between diverse communities.

‘Regular eye tests are crucial health indicators. Our goal was to make this message resonate with everyone, regardless of their background,’ explained Kousoulou.

Participants carried multilingual Snellen charts, as a statement about how eye care transcended language barriers.

The initiative garnered support from companies such as Birmingham Optical, Forever and a Day eyewear and GoodLookingOptics.
