Optical retailer Vision Express is helping to put an end to unnecessary blindness in the developing world by choosing Vision Aid Overseas as its charity of choice. This decision, recently announced to all Vision Express employees, is hoped to give a big boost to Vision Aid Overseas, the only UK charity that specialises in correcting refractive error in some of the world’s poorest countries.
There are 200 million people in the developing world whose lives are blighted by a lack of spectacles. With Opticians on virtually every high street in the UK, including 196 Vision Express stores alone, people take spectacles and their ability to see clearly through regular eye examinations for granted.
