Vision Express lends its support to government apprentice push

Vision Express introduced a 13-month apprenticeship scheme 18 months ago and the first intake completed the scheme in June

Vision Express has welcomed Government plans to increase the number of apprenticeships across England revealing that it has 79 apprentices in its training scheme and is now calling for applicants for the autumn intake.

Last year Vision Express joined The 5 per cent Club whose members pledge to have 5 per cent of their workforce comprising young people on structured training schemes over the next five years.

Vision Express introduced a 13-month apprenticeship scheme 18 months ago and the first intake completed the scheme in June. Demand has been high with over 3,000 which averages 40 applicants per place. All of those qualifying have a Level 2, Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health (Optical Retail), which is equivalent to five GCSEs.
