Vision Express marked National Apprenticeship Week with the initiation of 15 school and college leavers last week after the launch of a new scheme.
They embarked upon a 13-month employer-embedded programme working towards a Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health (Optical Retail), which was described as equivalent to five GCSEs.
Vision Express has now also opened applications for its spring apprentice intake, offering a further 20 places.
The multiple has also committed to join The 5% Club, pledging to have 5 per cent of its UK workforce comprising young people on structured training schemes over the next five years. It had reached 3 per cent by January.
