Strong praise was offered to a recipient of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Wearers’ newly accredited Scottish qualification.
May Allan, practice manager of Eye Pad Opticians in Glasgow, flew down to London to receive her Optical Care Level 7 certificate from WCSM master Chris Hunt (also pictured), at the company’s annual presentation ceremony at Apothecaries’ Hall this week.
Allan, also celebrating her birthday on the day of the event, said: ‘Being new to optics I have gained everything from the course, it is a lovely way to spend my birthday.’
In addition to certificate presentations for seven training courses, company freedoms were granted to optical professionals including ABDO president Peter Black and GOC director of regulation Mandie Lavin during the ceremony.
