Johnson & Johnson Vision Care is encouraging patients to book an eye examination using an online call-back service.

Using the Click to be Contacted programme on the Acuvue website, the prospective contact lens patient is given a call back from a local practitioner.

According to J&J, a recent pilot study of the system in the US saw an additional 100,000 eye care professional visits, an increase of 25 per cent. More than 5,000 practices were enrolled in the US scheme.

David Ruston, director of professional affairs for J&J Vision Care, UK, Ireland, Holland & the Nordics, said: 'By targeting online users, we have developed a fast and easy way for them to book an eye appointment and to start taking more interest in their eye health.'
