The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers has announced that Lieutenant Colonel John Salmon will retire in June after 17 years as the company's clerk

The ClerkThe Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers has announced that Lieutenant Colonel John Salmon will retire in June after 17 years as the company's clerk, its chief executive officer.

The company's current master Dr Christine Tomkins said Salmon had ‘ably steered the Spectacle Makers through major transitions in its offering for the training and education of people working in optics, through significant governance changes and the development of its charity’.

He is the company's 23rd recorded clerk in its nearly 400 year history, and the company offered him its best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
