Nearly half (47 per cent) of young adults under the age of 35 have not had an eye test in past two years despite nearly three quarters (74 per cent) knowing they should have a check-up every two years.
The results of a survey, commissioned by the Royal National Institute of Blind People, looked at more than 1,000 adults and has prompted the organisation to call on under-35s to make a new year’s resolution to get their eyes tested.
Cost was a major factor in their decision-making, said the RNIB, with one quarter saying the reason they did not have eye tests more often was because they were too expensive.
