There was a rash of optical technology as the year dragged itself into life. Gene therapy and the much media-loved Google contact lens were just two of the stories doing the rounds.
Amazingly all of the coverage of Google Glass has raised the expectations of what these new generations of eyewear can do.
One of the stories opined disappointedly that the Google contact lens wouldn't provide in-vision email or constant information feeds. It would just montor health for sight threatening conditions such as glaucoma.
There is no pleasing some people is there!
