Wearable tech continues to be a big deal but it is wrists and not eyes that seem to be getting all of the attention.

Just days after Apple rained on its own Google Glass parade Sony has come out with its latest eyewear tech play.

Sony's developer editon SmartEyeglass will start retailing next month and,  according to the BBC website, orders are now being taken in the UK and Germany for the Android-compatible devices. This must surely be an announcement Sony would like to have made six month ago.

According to the BBC website the first model will come with a development kit to encourage people to design their own apps based arounf SmartEyeglass' hardware. The spectacles  sport a speaker, controller, touch sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass,  sensors, camera and  microphone all in a a package weighing around 800g.
