Another water alert

Rory Brogan

Here is a shocking video on the perils of storing contact lenses in water. It concerns a contact lens wearer in the US who was too busy to buy some new solution, and has really suffered as a result of storing her lenses in water for a weekhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/10/contacts-amoeba--infection-go-blind-erin-the-doctors_n_4077952.html?utm_hp_ref=uk-lifestyle&ir=UK+Lifestyle.

Thinking she had an eye infection she was given steroid drops that seem to have masked an amoeba infection. While there isn't much follow up detail, the unfortunate wearer describes on the video how her vision is now like looking through a fog. There is a handy link to 'What every contact lens wearer needs to know (but is afraid to ask)'  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/26/contact-lens-hygiene-questions-answers-eye-health_n_3950593.html that gives details on why storing lenses in water can lead to infections. It's been said before, but it's advice that is certainly worth repeating.
