Comment: Collecting by the seaside

August is always a quiet time in practice, but as customers disappear on holiday those dog day afternoons provide a great opportunity to plan for the coming autumn.

Back to school this year will herald the start of the Transitions Eye Know Eye Care schools project. This has the potential to raise the profile of optometry as never before and it will be well worth getting involved. The fourth quarter of the year also marks the end of the current three-year CET cycle. There are plenty of points out there so don't leave collecting yours until the last moment.

One of the highlights of the post holiday season is likely to be the ABDO conference and exhibition in Brighton. For the first time this event offers all practice staff, not just DOs, the opportunity to visit a free exhibition in the seaside resort whether they are attending the conference programme or not.
