Hats off to the FMO's Malcolm Polley and his call for all of the optical bodies to bring their events together and usher in a new order of optical cooperation.

Year after year the optical profession bemoans the lack of cohesion over events and meetings but with the Optrafair bandwagon already rolling there is no excuse for Optrafair 2011 not being a rallying point for the whole of optics.

Significantly, last week Polley, chief executive at the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians, (see news) called on optical bodies to organise their events to coincide with Optrafair. This comes just weeks after many optical bodies pledged confederated action.
