Comment: The balloon goes up for eye week

What are your plans for National Eye Health Week? Next week (June 14-20) marks the inaugural NEHW and brings together a whole host of events to create some focus and scale to the many eye-related awareness campaigns that are held each year.

The major associations and bodies for the partially sighted and blind (News page 8) have announced their plans, as have many independent and multiple practices.

But there is only so much that organisations, associations and companies can do. The most powerful force in eye care is the retail optical business and the legion of practices up and down the country that are the face of eye care for the British public.
