It always comes as a surprise to see what gets home visiting opticians going, so I found the letter (09.10.09) in response to Dawn Roberts' recent 'Home truths' feature on domiciliary eye care (25.09.09) interesting.

It always comes as a surprise to see what gets home visiting opticians going, so I found the letter (09.10.09) in response to Dawn Roberts' recent 'Home truths' feature on domiciliary eye care (25.09.09) interesting.

It soon became clear that advertising his service was what the correspondent wanted to know about, and he bemoaned the lack of advice in the article. He described some of the routes he had used, unfortunately not all successful. I am sure there are many strategies that may be employed when promoting a domiciliary service, but contact with local optical practitioners and other home social services must be at the top of the list for the independent.
