Ex-hurricane Gonzalos shattered any illusion that the UK was set for a warm and peaceful Indian Summer.
The temperatures may look fine on the TV but when that wind starts to blow you know Autumn has arrived. What also arrives at this time of the year is the ritual of changing the times on all of those pesky digital clocks, well all except the one in the car, does anyone change that?
With the move back from British Summer Time, or Daylight Saving Time as we are supposed to call it, comes dark evenings. Changing the clocks is always going to be a swings and roundabouts affair, we can't create daylight only move it around. Those who get up after eight in the morning probably wonder what all the fuss is about but for some people the daylight change is a great boon, or a curse.
