Members of the British Contact Lens Association can get their hands on a very useful patient handout to aid contact lens compliance http://www.bcla.org.uk/en/news/index.cfm/patient%20checklist that gives 12 key steps for healthy contact lens wear. Among the checklist is the advice 'leave your lenses off if your eyes don't feel good, look good and see well, and consult your practitioner without delay'. My eyes didn't feel good the other day, so I threw out my two-weekly lenses a day early and, on replacing them with a brand new pair, they felt great again, so I can tick that box. Other handy hints are don't swim in your lenses, don't use tap water, and replace your lens case with a new one every month. Even though I've been wearing contact lenses for 30 plus years, it can help to see some simple contact lens checks as a gentle reminder not to cut corners.
