Making optical practice more approachable

Whether its be the cast of Cats on the Isle of Wight descending on the local specsavers, an optician in Sheffield showing off her culinary skills, a row in Cheshire or alleged wrongdoings by a domiciliary in East Anglia --opticians  seem to be in the news at the moment. This, of course in no bad thing. Making the optical practice a friendly approachable place is a useful exercise if only to prove to the public that opticians are approachable.

Its often said that the public see going to the optician as necessary evil, a grudge purchase or somewhere they come out of having spent much more than they bargained for. Approachability and increasing the frequency of visits has got to be a good thing, even if it doesn't result in a  sale. Clearly local journalists are beginning to add the optician to their 'beat' of calls each week to see what is going on in their area.
