The more eagle- eyed among you will have noticed some differences in the Optician website of late.

All of the CET, interactive and non-interactive, is still there but there is a constant stream of news making it to the site. When Optician first mooted the idea of investing heavily in a new website the question of whether to publish on the web or print first was raised. In reality there is so much going on, at the moment at least, that its not a question of saving things up but offering air time to more stories than was ever possible before.

The days of the awkward Friday morning telephone call with the person on the other end of the line wanting to know why their story isn't in the magazine is a thing of the past.

The great news for readers is that there is more than ever on www.opticianonline.net and something new every day, sometimes every hour. The next big change for the Optician website is the implementation of a subscription paywall. This will protect some of the most valuable content, such as CET, for paying subscribers. In the meantime it is open and free for all.
