No fire extinguishers were thrown from the rooftops or hunger strikers cut down by mounted policemen but there was a distictly Jarrow march feel to optics this week.
Heading down from Scotland with a weighty petition in his hand was online retailer Ewan McFarlane and his campaign for opticians to give people their PDs.He had travelled the length of the land in his quest for justice, well from Inverness, he was a man on a mission.
Our man on the ground described the scene outside the big glossy door in Harley Street where the PD protester was jostled by TV crews and banged on the door for the top brass at the GOC to answer and take hold of the petition. All gripping stuff.
