Those of you who read this column regularly will know that I am usually a firm advocate for the NHS. However, even I have been moved to the point of despair with the launch of Lord Darzi's NHS review. This launch was described by the Prime Minister as a 'once in a generation opportunity'. If this is the case then all I can say is the NHS is fatally doomed in the hands of narrow-thinking people such as Lord Darzi. It will come as no surprise that nowhere in this document is there any mention of eye care services or indeed many services at all.
