Walking the line

In these post-Leveson days it is harder than ever for the press to do the right thing it seems.

As Johnny Cash almost said,  I try and walk the line.

Optician is routinely accused of favouring the multiples over the independents or favouring the independents over the multiples. The internet feels it is being ignored and DOs refracting, let's not go there. Optician is accused of being in bed with big advertisers and at the whim of the optical establishment.

As a journalist I am trained in media law. Optician has to be careful of libel, defamation, giving rights of reply and distinguishing  comment from fact. Reports have to be fair, accurate, decent  and  contemporaeneous, we don't lie, pretend to be others ( unless in the public interest) deal in inside information etc etc etc.
