Patients tell BBC Watchdog that requests to Ultralase for free follow-up care was rejected

Laser eye surgery provider Ultralase was forced to defend itself last week after the BBC Watchdog show aired claims that some of its patients were not having their lifetime guarantees honoured.

Delving into the history of Ultralase, the programme said the company, which was founded in 1991, was acquired by Russel Ambrose in 2012. A year later, the company went into administration.

Ultralase Limited ceased to exist and Ambrose was reported to have created Ultralase Eye Clinics Limited, a move which Watchdog said allowed him to enjoy the perceived trust benefits of Ultralase’s lifetime guarantee, without having to honour it because the new company did not have the same obligations.
