Plans for the world’s largest eye health survey are well under way

Plans for the world’s largest eye health survey are well under way thanks to an initiative of Vision 2020 UK.

The UK eye survey, aimed to start in 2017, will help to find out about the eye health of 250,000 people living in the UK. ‘We hope the research will help to plan services better. By knowing what the full demand could be, we could trigger earlier intervention and create better public health messages,’ said Vision 2020 UK CEO Mercy Jeyasingham. ‘We want to find out about specialist groups as well as the general population to create a clearer picture.’

The ambitious research project could cost up to £15-20m.
