
By the final morning of a conference, one might expect delegates to be somewhat tired and even a little bleary-eyed after full days of learning and socialising. However, on the third and final day of the Optical Success Academy (OSA) conference, which was held over a long weekend during September in Birmingham, attendees enthusiastically assembled shortly before nine in the morning. In fact, the buzz around the Horton Suite in the Macdonald Burlington Hotel was such that it took Conor Heaney, founder of OSA, a moment or two to calm the crowd and kick off the day’s proceedings.
In his introductory remarks, Heaney drew on examples from his Manchester practice, Jones and Co Styling Opticians, that help it stand out from competitors. These included trunk shows, sustainable eyewear displays, and personalising marketing material provided by eyewear suppliers.
