Optician would like to point out that the Scottish contact lens maker Daysoft made a gross profit of £1.98m in the year to December 31 2006, up slightly on 2005.

The figure in the headline of last week's story referring to losses of £1m is after depreciation, taxes and other costs including £615,000 of one-off potential exceptional charges required to be included in 2006 results under the new FRS25 accounting rules relating to preference shares.

Optician apologises for any confusion this may have caused.

Daysoft has also indicated to us that sales in 2007 are up 28 per cent on the same period of 2006 with UK sales up 60 per cent.
