Attendance at this month's Mido exhibition in Milan was down compared to last year but exceeded expectations, claimed the organiser.
The annual show attracted more than 42,000 visitors, with a decrease of 9 per cent compared to 2008, according to Mido vice-president Dan Emanuel Levi.
He added that despite this drop 'the signals coming from the sector are good'.
'We are very pleased with the growth of Italian visitors, up 3 per cent. There was a fall in the number of foreign visitors, down 18 per cent, due to the global economic situation and this trend is almost parallel with other international trade fairs.'
