The 18ft Skiff Grand Prix and International Championship ended on July 4 after an eight-day competition off the coast of Fowey in Cornwall, when the contact lens manufacturer's name was emblazoned on the sails of the skiffs. Up to 40 teams took part in the contest, including competitors from Australia and China, and it was seen on national television news as well as on dedicated programmes on Meridian TV. The new sponsorship is part of Bausch & Lomb's continuing commitment to sports. It ran sports vision screening at the past four summer and winter Olympics and is involved with the Science of Sport Exhibition in London. 'Bausch & Lomb's continued link with sports vision is a proven strategy in promoting the benefits of disposable lenses and we are delighted with our new association with competitive sailing,' said B&L managing director Nick Loan. 'The skiff racing events are exciting and dynamic and the strong televison interest in the sport offers an excellent vehicle to promote the Bausch & Lomb disposable contact lens range.'
