Latest findings suggest 90 per cent of contact lens wearers in the UK are regularly leaving their lenses in for longer than instructed.

Half of the patients questioned in a study by Bausch + Lomb admitted to wearing their lenses for seven hours longer than the time recommended by their optometrist. One in five had worn their lenses for a full 24 hours longer than advised.

A breakdown of the results from 2,000 adults showed the age group marginally less likely to adhere to the time prescribed was those aged 55 years and older, with almost 95 per cent admitting to wearing their lenses for longer than advised.
