College mulls lay members

THE COLLEGE of Optometrists is considering appointing two lay members to its Council.

The provisions of the College's Royal Charter allows for two non optometrists to sit on the council for a maximum of two two-year terms. A College spokeswoman said no decision had been made as to who might be appointed. Meanwhile, the College has decided to change the name of the Shared Care Development Group to the Primary Care Development Group to reflect its current role and new priorities in the NHS.
