Contact lens supply issues

Supply of MyDay and MyDay Toric contact lenses has been restricted to selected partners following manufacturing shortfalls caused by higher than anticipated demand.

Many stockists received letters from Coopervision last week informing them supply would be restricted. In the UK, this has involved working with customers on allocation of available supply, demand volume, growth rate and capability to meet these with existing capacity.

A Coopervision spokesperson said it was ‘working to substantially increase production capacities while also introducing temporary measures in certain markets to balance global needs.’

The company was reviewing the situation but gave no date for when supply would return to normal.
