Contact lens manufacturer and supplier Daysoft is to shut its Jersey ordering facility at the end of the month, with nine members of staff losing their jobs.

Operations will move to Blantyre, Scotland, where Daysoft is based and its contact lenses produced.

Daysoft told BBC Jersey it was doing everything it could to help staff affected by the closure. It added that the Blantyre site had an order fulfillment department immediately adjacent to the final production process so it was decided to consolidate this work.

Daysoft executive chairman Ron Hamilton said: ‘Fulfillment of daysoft lenses has ceased in Jersey to take advantage of faster/tracked delivery options which are increasingly in demand by  many of our customers around the world.
